Hi All...
I am soooo soooo excited at the possibility of a new LOST Arg that is starting.

Here is some of the news out of Comic Con about a new Lost website:

http://www.lostuniversity.org/

I already signed up for further info to come to me via email! For some reason they don't take members from Quebec, so I lied and said I was from Ontario. ;-)

Apparently there is some buzz about one of the professors listed there, a Shlomo Sher who has a website: http://www.unnu.com/

Will look into it further as soon as I can!
Can I just say, I am soooo relieved that this might be the start of a new ARG?
Wooo Hooo!

Dharma . . . thanks for posting this. I got an e-mail from a friend this morning with that link and I posted it on the Comic Con thread - I didn't even look if someone else had posted it yet!

I can't wait to look at it!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOVE IT!! The logo alone is worth the game.

Looking forward to ancient languages and philosophy - but I'll need help with those science classes. Damn, it's college physics all over again and they don't seem to be offering a "Physics for Poets" class to get people like me through it.

Who's Shlomo Sher? Try saying that one three times fast. :D

Glad you guys are happy too...
I wanna take the jungle survival class - it's given by the entire cast. ;-)

Are they serious about us reading some of the recommended reading? yikes...

I want to make my own, because I don't look good in t-shirts - lol.

Survival class sounds like fun. Especially if there's a field trip.

haha... i hear you Son! It's really easy to do - and once you get started it's a bit hard to stop yourself. You can do all sorts of different things... Canvas bags... T-shirts, Polo shirts crest type logos...etc.
Just keep in mind that if you print out a small logo - make use of the rest of the page of iron on transfer sheet with other stuff cause otherwise you can't really re-use the same sheet.

I'll look and see if I find some nice Geronimo Jackson pics and LU pics too! If I find anything that can be used I'll definitely post it here so you guys can use it too!

P.S. I had found a website a while back where they posted all the labels for Dharma food, and also for Dharma binders. It was very smart and I thought of you guys - cause they took a plain regular binder and made them look like authentic Dharma binders that were in the show. Will look for the link and post it here.

http://maxpictures.com/weblog/2007/04/1 ... ive-needs/

Here's the labels link . . .

The LU logo is pretty small (I too was already looking to make a shirt).

I made a Lost t-shirt for the hubby on Father's Day. It had the numbers in Roman Numerals. I'll take a picture to post as soon as I can REMEMBER!!??

Also remember if you are going to make a transfer - that you have to reverse the image so that it will be "right" on the shirt!!!

I am totally geeking over this right now!!

First semester doesn't start till December 8th??????? (Read the "News" tab)

My IE tab said "Lost University/Coming to Blu-Ray" I hope this isn't an elaborate advertisement for Season 5......that's the date they've given for Season 5 Blu-Ray and DVD to be released as well as 1st semester.

Speaking of iron-on transfers..... has anyone seen the one that JOpinionated had designed for her T-shirt to wear to Comic-Con? I thought that was cute.

Not an anagram. He's a real person, I just googled him. If he's made up, they really made him up well.... he's on FB, he's got his wedding album online (married in 2005), lots of details.

(I know, I know.....it's all in the details....)

In fact all of the the professors can be googled and have (seemingly) real profiles.

Yes SandDab, I did see JOpinionated's logo... I loved it!!! That's what I was thinking of printing out!
On a red shirt no less!!! I actually had a plain red shirt and thought it needed some geeking up. ;-)

And yes, I can't help but think all this conviently seems to correspond with the blu-rays that will be coming out. They seem to be trying to promote that and some iPhone apps that will be available. I just hope you don't absolutely need to have it to follow. That would suck. I plan to get my hands on those blu-rays anyways, but still... that would not be fair to those who don't plan on buying the blu-ray format. or any format at all.

I think something is up with that professor... he's my age... and has already accomplished soooooo much? okay I guess I just depressed myself. lol... but what I am trying to say is he went through many many different fields - seems kinda hard to believe. Unless he was a child prodigy.
Is it just me?

I told my husband (whose Dad used to work for a VW dealership) that I want an old VW minivan to paint Dharma blue. My husband and I were running errands the other day and saw one!! It was even blue, just not Dharma blue. LOL

Haha Son, that's hilarious! I can't believe I didn't think of that one!!! ;-)
get one, I'm sure Guru could hook you up with a metal dharma hood logo, and then we can go cruising!!! Heehee!

I'd be so impressed if I ever saw one like that on the road. Maybe they'll be auctioning that off next March along with all the other incredibly tempting LOST stuff. Did u hear?

Just heard that Austrailia is also not able to paticipate in the ARG. Wondering if that and the fact that Quebec is also left out is conspiracy (LOL) or if it has something to do with language or blu-ray release dates... Hmmm. Guess I'll be ordering mine from Amazon.com then! ;-)

It is sounding more and more like the "classes" will be bonus features on the S5 set. I know that Australia's dvd format is different (their dvds won't play on our players....and vice versa I presume) from the US, is it like that for Quebec too?

OK, I think it's pretty much definitive now...... Lost U. is on Blu-Ray.

There's a little video playing on the website now that ends with: "LOST UNIVERSITY: coming soon to Blu-Ray (tm) Hi-Def."

I don't remember that being there yesterday.

I saw it there yesterday SandDab... I was already wondering how come Quebec was left out of the loop. For us over here, it's usually cause we have to have everything in both languages - even the covers and stuff *(our LOST says "Perdu") So maybe certain content was not done in both languages. Either way, I am definitely ordering mine from the US then! No way I am gonna miss out on a perfect marketing attempt by the great folks at ABC. ;-)

I do definitely think this is all gonna be on Season 5 discs - then maybe they will release a separate dvd for the second Semester? Or maybe that would be on the S6 blu-rays?

Here's some info on a new ARG that appears to be going on. You'll want to check out www.damoncarltonandapolarbear.com and also roniemidfewarts.com There is also some other info out there at dark ufo and doc arzt....

The premise has to do with this comedian paul sheer who has the website for damoncarltonandapolarbear.com and I guess gave one of his velvet paintings to Damon and Carlton and he's battling with ronie midfew. He has also sent letters in the mail to dark and doc arzt, and a few others,so to see copies of these you will have to go to one of their sites. These are a legit part of an ARG, the whois has shown that both sites administrators are ABC INC

Ronie Midfew Arts is an anagram for Widmore Fine Arts, also.

I don't know what the ARG could be though.....it seems to be a feud at this point with Ronie Midfew claiming intellectual rights to the Damon and Carlton's images and issuing "cease and desist" to Paul Sheer.

When I read that I wondered if the whole thing at Comic Con wasn't just a set up or publicity stunt. (by ABC itself)

I heard it's been confirmed that this is officially an ARG... Haven't been really on top of things these days since I'm in the middle of planning a party for 60 ppl (HELP!!!) but apparently since there is actual appearances by Damon and Carlton in the viral video - it's pretty legit that this is not just a publicity stunt.
Also that video has generated the name of the first episode of season 6.
Still trying to figure out what it means. Anybody got any ideas?

Dharma - good luck! I've been busy with my sister's graduation party for my niece - 78 people invited, rain predicted, and they decided to re-do the downstairs bathroom a week before the party. Five hours before party time they cut the wrong line and had no water for an hour. Three hours before the guests arrived there was finally a working toilet - but no bathroom door. By party time, the place looked perfect, the food was fabulous, there was a bathroom door, and my sister and I were ready to collapse!!

So what's the game? Chasing the videos? I'm not denying that it isn't authentic ABC material.....I just don't get it. What's the game?

PS:: Good luck with your parties, ladies!!

I know... I'm not sure what the game is either...lol
Looks like they are gearing up for some big reveal of a Gallery on Saturday night at midnight.... when 15 turns into 16 hmmm.

But I agree SandDab, it's weird cause I don't understand if we are supposed to be chasing some clues or if we just wait and watch. I have a feeling there will be some clues in the paintings that will be on the new site/gallery on the 16th. I read that he will use some glow in the dark ink this time around...so there could be some interesting clues there -maybe like the hatch door map.

As for my party planning skills... thankfully this party is being held at my sister's house so as much as I am doing a lot of the cooking, at least I don't have to also prepare my house and deal with all the dirty clean up. Obviously i'll be giving a hand... to clean up, but it's still a relief to not be hosting it. Phew!

Praying for good weather on 8-15 (I swear we didn't pick that date intentionally...her bday was yesterday, a day after my husband) also didn't realize that the theme was unintentionally LOST inspired as a "Tropical" theme! hahaha... made some nice centerpieces filled with sand and shells and candles! Gonna have torches all over the backyard and vacation style music playing...My sister has an incredible yard with a huge 8 foot waterfall from one elevation to the pool, so just the landscape itself will be in tune with the theme! I think my mom is gonna love it.

Now that I think of it, Maybe we should order some Boar...for the bbq. Just kidding. ;-)

************* SPOILER ALERT (MILD) ***************
(I think the "spoiler" revealed in the content of this video was already mentioned above anyway)

Here's the link to a video I saw on Doc Artz blog of that Paul Sheer guy visiting the ABC dumpsters looking for clues:

http://www.docarzt.com/lost/lost-season ... e-reveals/

It's cute. Damon and Carlton appear briefly. But it makes you wonder about this guy. I'm still wondering if this isn't just some kind of sanctioned publicity stunt either for Lost or even for this guy's art sale (also on 8/15, Dharma). The reason I say that is, it doesn't seem that anyone but this guy's website and Doc Artz are covering this "story". I checked for Doc Jensen's comments at EW....none. I checked Lostpedia....nothing. Ditto at SI. I don't really know what to make of all of this.

I just saw the video. lol I am always behind it seems.

This is the first ARG I have even looked at. I missed the first ones.

the video was interesting, but confusing.

the biggest thing I noticed, other than the obvious Title for the next episode being LA X, and the rose in the trash can, was that the guy in the dumpster was wearing red shoes! Does that mean he better look out....Old lady Eloise may be close by.

There was also a mr. Clucks chicken beverage sitting in his cup holder while he's driving his car. I think we'll have a better idea if this is more than just a publicity stunt for the artwork, once the 16th rolls around.

Hey Son . . . which one of us is the bad twin???? (oh, another red herring!!) That was the best line in the finale for me. Of course, I always have to have a Hurley line! Hannah still says "there's Mommy" with a picture of my Huuuuuuuugo (in mom voice)!!!

Did you guys see yesterday's update on Damon Carlton and a Polar Bear?

Here's the one quote that just makes me think they're poking fun at us:

“It’s always the same with you Lost fans, you watch, you theorize, you blog, you paint, but it always ends the same, you want more.”
Here's the link again:

OK, the content is gone from D. C. and a PB and has been replaced with a bunch of picture frames with question marks except for one.

Just before they did that, it sounded like they were starting sort of a scavenger hunt (plus the "rules" kinda sound like they are discouraging people from jumping in their cars and taking off to follow clues).

The first one (clue/location) is this "Banana Split Sundae" that sounds like a night club. Their poster advertising an event on 8/16 has a background of faded Dharma logos and the four toed foot is used as a divider on "DJ (foot) AM", who I guess is one of the performers at this club. The ad on MySpace said it was a "Dharma Initiative" event yesterday. Anyone have a MySpace account who can get additional info?

from MySpace:
BANANA SPLIT SUNDAES by DJ AM & STEVE AOKI TONIGHT: Guest List is CRAZY INSANE! Get There EARLY! Dharma Initiative Presents a party with BIG SURPRISES!

I really like this!! I feel myself getting somewhat ambivalent over the prospect that aliens, time loops and subsequent alternate realities might be filling the content of S6! (Maybe it's just the stress of going to the hospital so much and for so long this past 10 days).

Evidently this was posted on the site yesterday, but this morning I see that there is a limited edition (300 with only 200 being available to fans/public) print by Tim Doyle featuring Hurley and "the numbers" available for sale.

FYI, I was going to buy one, but at checkout the website did not appear secure, so I cancelled the transaction. I've got an email in to customer service.

The painting is amazing. Let me know if you get a response from customer service.

I would have thought the price would have been more too. If the painting looks as good as it does on the site, it would be well worth the $50. Can't wait to hear what customer service has to say, if they get back to you.

What kind of warning did you get?

I didn't get any kind of warning, Blue. There are things that I (have been told to) look for before checking out online as "proof" of a secure site. (the first 5 letters should be "https" and/or there should be an icon in the shape of a lock). The website didn't have any of those during the checkout process, so I didn't check out.

Makes sense to me SandDab... Better to be on the safe side. I wonder if u can use paypal? I myself am holding out for a Sawyer print:)
let us know if anyone gets back to you if u can? Thx!

I'm not too sure what I believe about this being an ARG - arg stands for alternate reality game. So are they saying this is a reality game?

Well, the Locke poster has sold out already. I didn't even like that one as much.

There's a "Frame 3" there today...... anyone with any ideas? Frame 2 led to free skate boards, wonder what Frame 3 is about?

BTW, I did get an email back: they said they had fixed the check out security, but that if I was more comfortable calling in my order just to let them know. (It gave me a chance for 2nd thoughts so I didn't end up ordering it)

DIL, I don't know how I failed to notice you are from Montreal! I'm going there for the first time next weekend... I've never been to Canada before.

Hey . . . LOST University registration starts on the 22nd - next Tuesday!!

(and it's 815 anniversary too!)

Has anyone received any information about that? I signed up when we were talking about this site this summer . . . but I haven't received anything?

Did I mess something up or am I just too impatient??

Does any one recognize the seating chart on DC&PB? Frame 6 is up. I checked the Hollywood Bowl, not it.

Lost U registration tomorrow!! (many we can give farming a break, better remember to plant 3 day crops!)

No worries, that's the best I could come up with on the spot. Here's the direct link again (also in the 1st comment of this thread):

I peeked in at ABC and boy has it changed. The theory board is now a discussion board and is very different. I haven't been over there in a year probably, so I was a little surprised to see it had changed..even if it is appearance only.

Something could be happening with LU tonight...I think...Joppinionated suggested we check it out around midnight. Not sure if that's Eastern Standard time or what. I'm going to try and stay up for that. Still nothing in my e-mail on the registration.

It does seem that way.... they have a ticking countdown clock that currently has less than 3 hours on it.

Thanks Sand. When I went to ABC.com, the only choice I had was "discussion". It took me to a discussion board similar to the ones on The Fuselage....totally different. When I went back tonite and typed theories in the search box, it came right up. That is so strange... :?

Anyway, I appreciate the link. :)
I have not been there in a very long time, so I assumed they had just changed things.
That place still scares me.

Gregg Nations gave a podcast to introduce Lost U (it may also be on ABC, but my link is to Doc Artz).

http://www.docarzt.com/lost/official-lo ... xperience/

IMPORTANT: To participate, BDLive is required. My understanding is that this is the connectable blu-ray, not the simple blu-ray player, the BDLive component is essential.

Me too. Keep us posted, please!

(All I really want is the T-shirt, which I will eventually get around to making, thanks to directions from woods and Dharma.)

Somewhat technologically challenged here so this may be a stupid question but I can't find the answer on google. Is a BDlive connection something to do with connecting to the internet?

TTB, Don't feel bad because I'm more tech. challenged than anyone but I'm gonna guess here and say...."I think so"...I read somewhere that you can participate if you buy the season 5 bluRay and you have a ps3 game system, even if you don't have a bluray player. I hope this is true because I do have a ps3 but I don't have a bluray player or a BDlive.

If not then I am like the many hundreds of others that can't attend LU. :(

HP, doesn't your PS3 play Blu-rays? I had heard that the PS3 was a good alternative.

TTB, I wasn't sure either and did find it on the internet, somewhere, that explained it nicely. I didn't save the link though, didn't realize someone else might want to see it. But, yeah, you're right, if you buy a BD (Blu-ray Disc) player, you need to get one with internet connectivity. Or a gaming system that plays BDs, like the PS3.

Here's a couple of links. The first one is pretty thorough in critiquing the necessity of this feature. The second one is very thorough by following the links provided:

http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10055831-1.html
http://www.whatisbdlive.com/

And this is the reason why Lost U will be on BD Live:

http://www.disneybdlivenetwork.com/

Lost on ABC.........ABC = owned by Disney ( I love Mickey, but dang he's got his hands in our wallets!!)

Thanks SandDab. Looks like I'm stuck in the same boat as blue-eyes-too. Very disapointing. I am playing another ARG right now which I was going to drop in favor of the LOST ARG but I guess I'll just stick to that one.

I'm bummed that we don't have the Blue-Ray player. We got a Wii for Christmas and I kept asking the hubby "are you sure you don't want a PS3 instead"???? The Wii is really fun for family game nights (I'm pretty sure the PS3 wouldn't get used much anymore) . . . but I'm certainly not going to go out and purchase one just to play the ARG!!??

The regular disks are good enough for me! (dang it)**

There is the Tutoring Center. Not really sure how that's going to work, but it sounds like there will be some content available for fans who won't be participating via BDLive.

A few of us have enrolled and so far the only one that will be able to participate is Dharma_is_Lost. I can't justify making that kind of investment just to play an ARG. Hopefully Dharma will share the experience with us. I'm a little disappointed but what can you do?

No need to buy one, is there? How about a rental?
If you were to rent a Playstation 3 from a video rental store (ie. Blockbuster), they are made to support Blue-Ray -I think...

Thanks Hiero!! That's a good idea. I thought we had a ps3 but it turns out it's the xbox live....We bought it for our son last Christmas.
Seriously, I might do that. I never would have thought of it. :)

I wonder if you can "hold" the rental of the PS3 along with the Lost Blu-rays??? Blockbuster might pick up some extra business!!

OK you have my attention now. I have a PS3. Actually my son does, but I paid for it, so technically it is mine.

He will let me use it. So now do I need to purchase the blue ray disc?

You got it, Blue. On sale Dec. 8! I'm not that familiar with the PS3's, but you may want to ask you son to be sure that it will play a blu -ray and/or is compatible with BDLive.

If you want to test it to be sure, rent a Blue-Ray movie/series & play it on the PS3 beforehand....

Thanks for the suggestions, I am going to rent a Blue Ray movie, of some kind, and make sure it will work.

Get one of the Disney BDLive ones.... Preston would get a kick out of it and you could test it for yourself, get the feel, etc. before Lost comes out in Dec.

OK you have my attention now. I have a PS3. Actually my son does, but I paid for it, so technically it is mine.

LOL, Blue. Good for you! I may have to make a deal with my nephew, who wants my old stereo that plays albums. He's into authentic rock - in the original format. Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha! Now we're getting creative!!

Has anyone seen DC&aPB today? They're releasing clues to the next poster. It's of a pink monster, must be from a cartoon. Anyone recognize it?

So, anyone playing LOST University? It looks soooooooooooooo interesting. I'm really dissappointed I cannot take some of the classes especially the physics ones.

I know Dharma got her S5 set, but it did not contain Lost U. She was ticked! Did you see the scans of some of the bonus material she posted on FB?

The only other people I know that may have the S5 set that includes Lost U are C4 and Hiero. I don't think C4 had hers yet though.

Thanks SandDab. Usually during these games theres a lot of info out there for others who are not playing per se to follow along. Some of the classes were posted on YouTube but got pulled by ABC/Disney. So frustrating.
