I think they explained where they are going this week - well, actually Simon explained it. He had the woman on the train close her hand. Inside, imagine a tiny cat with a poisoned sardine. There are two scenarios - eat and die or don't eat and live. Until she opens her hand, both eventualities are the same. "The observer gets to decide." The woman says, "but the cat's already decided." Charlie/Simon answers, "Not in Quantum Physics."
If I'm willing to believe in an island with mystical qualities, a smoke monster, a frozen donkey wheel, and time travel - I'm sure I can get past a somewhat "unrealistic" conclusion to Flash Forward - as long as it's done with a stellar group of characters, awesome plot lines, and enough making sense (once you accept the basic impossibility of, same, time travel).
